10am to 4pm.Historic Downtown Madison, IndianaExhibit Headquarters
The Livery Stable

The frontier gateway to the Indiana Territory, Madison and this region has rich history in the migration of the region. Located between Cincinnati, Ohio and Louisville, KY, the city was founded by Revolutionary Soldier and surveyor, Colonel John Paul.
Experience the magic of extraordinary textiles from early 19th century patriots and pioneer families of the region. Highlighting early textiles with ties to Madison and Jefferson County, Indiana, this event will delight anyone who has discovered
grandmother's beautiful linens in the bottom of that trunk. “It is important to save these historic textiles, and preserve them for future generations”, Mrs. C. J. Keller, Regent, of John Paul Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution; “The program is designed to educate and promote preservation of these historic works by local and European artisans.”
Registration.
Your day begins with registration at The Livery Stable, 313 Broadway, Madison. Get your ticket, event schedule, map and you're on your way. These beautiful textiles will be displayed in the settings of their times within Madison's National Historic Landmark District at a variety of carefully selected historic sites.
“You will see shawls, samplers, coverlets, early quilts, floor coverings and more along with the opportunity to compare the diverse styles and types of textiles such as country vs city,” Cindy Ruesink, Exhibit Curator. Early collections of the Craig and Voris families will be on display with research provided by Hanover College, archival home to these collections. Featured speakers and demonstrations will be on hand offering their expertise on the identification, care and preservation of these often fragile treasures.
Madison's Treasures in Textiles is presented by the John Paul Chapter, NSDAR with proceeds supporting local DAR scholarships for students perusing a career interest in American History.
